Let’s Get Acquainted

Welcome to callingcq. This blog came out of from my experiences. I wanted a way to document my projects, and share my experiences.

I start my Ham Radio journey back in 2011, getting my Technician license. A few weeks later, I passed the General Exam, and the examiner suggested I take the Extra. I didn’t think I was ready for it, but he did. He was right, I passed the exam and got my Extra.

Once I got my extra it was time to upgrade my radio and get an HF radio. I selected the Icom IC-7000, and paired it with most of the equipment listed on the Equipment page. An AT-100 autotuner, and a RigBlaster Advantage TNC, with a G5RV antenna. I did a little bit of PSK32 work back then. I chose that antenna because I lived in an HOA.

I want to take a minute to Thank You for for being part of the Ham Radio Community. And if you are not, go find a local club and get involved. Do a google search for Ham Radio Club Near Me. There are plenty of ways that you can get into the hobby, and joining a local club is a good first step.

Lastly, Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the content. 73.
